OS X has a built in VNC (Screen Sharing) server, but it is a little known feature that it also has a built in VNC client. No additional software is necessary.

To setup the server go to Preferences->Sharing and check the “On” checkbox next to “Screen Sharing”. Make sure to only allow access to Administrators or a specific user/user group.

“Screens is a massive revamping of one of the most popular VNC clients available.” “Screens is the best remote access solution for macOS and iOS.” “Screens, arguably the finest and most attractive VNC client for Mac and iOS, is now even greater.”. My personal experience with the built-in Mac OS X VNC server is that it plays nice with Mac OS X Screen Sharing client, but not so well with 3rd party clients. And the same is often true of the Mac OS X Screen Sharing VNC client, it does not always play nice with 3rd party servers. For that I like JollysFastVNC client. Chicken of the VNC Free. By Jason Harris. Chicken of the VNC is an open-source VNC client for the. Supports Mac OS X built-in remote desktop server (ARD) and Mac OS X authentication - Does NOT support RealVNC encryption (use VNC over SSH or VeNCrypt instead) - Stowable on-screen extra.
